The Onigiri Company is a family business based in Calgary Alberta. After traveling through Japan in 2004 and 2006 and tasting many Onigiri along the way, we were inspired to bring this innovative, portable and healthy food back to Canada.
Onigiri: “taking hold of (something) with your hands"
Our Onigiri (O-knee-Gee-ree) begin as a hand shaped ball of short-grain white rice. The center of the rice ball is then filled with one of our delicious savory fillings. Each Onigiri is hand wrapped in a fresh, crisp sheet of Nori (seaweed) and ready to enjoy.
Our head chef has created a fusion of flavors using both Japanese and western ingredients. The result is a novel and delicious snack, lunch or dinner experience; perfect for an urban Samurai on-the-go.
Yam n’ Salmon: Baked wild salmon, caramelized yam, fresh ginger, sweet soy sauce.
Wasabi Tuna: Spicy wasabi mayonnaise, flaky yellowfin tuna.
Sweet Chili Tofu: Crispy tofu, carrots, green onion, sweet chili sauce. (vegan)
KimChi: spicy Korean pickled cabbage and vegetables (vegan)
To complement our Onigiri, we serve Edamame (soybeans in the pod), freshly cooked to order in our outdoor wok and seasoned with sea salt. Our edamame are GMO free and organically grown.
All of our food is GLUTEN FREE & NUT FREE
We make conscientious choices when selecting our high quality ingredients.
Our Nori is harvested and produced in the Jiangsu Province of China and is an excellent source of protein, fibre, potassium, magnesium, riboflavin, Vitamin A and Vitamin C.
